A cloudless sunset displayed before me
with its red, pink and orange like a painting in the sky.
A suburb house standing behind,
big two stories abode intact throughout time.
Bushy plants, colourful flowers and a small palm tree
would make it a picturesque place, a beloved place of mine.
Gazing at the twilight I realised a small black dot,
slowly getting bigger and displaying a yellowish scut behind.
More spots started to appear as well,
randomly spread throughout the horizon line.
Bigger and closer they seemed to be getting,
silent and calm like a heavy storm's eye.
The stillness in the air interrupted by heavy crashes,
these giant rocks landing and exploding, as the sound of wartime.
Streets being destroyed, houses turned into ashes,
big trees and small shrubs all ripped apart.
Fear and adrenaline hit every inch of my skin,
heart pounding fast and senses getting high.
Running inside, there was no escape,
as for these meteorites would hit the roof alike.
I ran into a small room hidden underneath the stairs,
hoping its thick ceiling will keep me safe from what's outside.
Blasts and cracks could be heard even louder,
yet doom was getting closer and no hope to come out alive.
